Graphic Design Intern - USAID/OTI

Position Summary:

The Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) supports U.S. foreign policy objectives by helping local partners advance peace and democracy. OTI provides fast, flexible, short-term assistance targeted at key political transition and stabilization needs. Strategically designed for each unique situation, OTI has laid the foundation for long-term development by promoting reconciliation, jumpstarting local economies, supporting emerging independent media, and fostering peace and democracy through innovative programming. In countries transitioning from authoritarianism to democracy, from violence to peace, or following a fragile peace, OTIs programs serve as catalysts for positive political change.

Essential Functions:

Assist in the production of graphic design products & services to USAIDs Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) in support of program management, analysis, planning, and advocacy.
In addition to assisting USAID/OTIs lead graphic designer, this position will assist USAID/OTIs Outreach and Engagement Team on a wide variety of outreach strategies and campaigns that includes designing and providing relevant technical assistance to the regional teams and USAID/OTIs senior leadership.
The position will also assist in managing and editing USAID/OTIs digital engagement on USAID.gov, Twitter, e-newsletters using Constant Contact, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flickr, Youtube, and Exposure. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics and Hootsuite is a plus.
Collaborate closely with USAID client and with peers in U.S Government agencies, the humanitarian community, academic, and private sectors to achieve OTI mandate of helping local partners advance peace and democracy in priority countries in crisis.
Education: Anticipated B.S. / B.A. Degree

Experience:

Familiar with Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat. Experience with other applications, such as Dreamweaver, After Effects, Word and PowerPoint, Prezi and Pictochart are a plus.
In addition to having substantial graphic design experience, candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and an interest in political analysis, conflict resolution, international development, international disaster assistance, and/or security studies.
Comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams.
Detail oriented and well organized.
Requirements: A portfolio of visual products will be requested before interviews.


U.S. Citizenship is required; selected candidate must be able to qualify for a government sponsored security clearance.
